Welcome to the gorgeous island off the coast of Oman, known as Masirah. This stunning island blows 24/7 during the summer season from April to September. The wind speed averages between 20-45 knots, kite sizes used most often are 5 meters and 7 meters. The food in Masirah is unbelievable and very cheap as it is a fisherman village, they catch fish from tuna to lobster, anything you could think of, they will have it. The temperature is a lovely 30 degrees during both summer and winter as the wind keeps it colder, unfortunately the wind isn’t predictable during the winter. It’s 100% guaranteed during the summer months.
Masirah offers incredible kitesurfing all summer where all levels of kite surfers go to progress incredibly fast. Being able to kite surf every day helps a lot to increase your level of riding with our professional instructors by your side. Not only is there amazing kitesurfing but also very nice snorkelling, fun boat trips to see dolphins or whales. During summer the temperature sounds like it would be roasting but the wind keeps it cool so it’s only 25-30 degrees during the day and 20 degrees at night. The locals are very friendly and 90% of them speak perfect English, meaning the language barrier isn’t a problem, originally Arabic speaking country.
During your kitesurfing experience in Masirah, you will stay at a 4 star hotel called Masirah Island resort which is located within a 10-20 minutes drive to both the lagoon and wave spot. Located on the beaches of Masirah Island, this luxurious resort offers an outdoor swimming pool, tennis court and a fitness centre. All rooms are air conditioned and have satellite TV.
Masira Island Resort's upper floor rooms come with a private balcony providing a panoramic view of the Arabian Sea. Rooms on the ground floor open onto the pool area and garden.
The resort hosts the Masirah Wildlife Museum which showcases the wildlife of Masirah Island, 4 different species of sea turtles, over 328 species of birds and a vast collection of exotic sea shells.
Azure Restaurant at Masira Island Resort serves a buffet of international cuisine. Guests can relax with a drink at the resort’s beachside Oasis Bar. Masira Island Resort offers snacks and cakes at The Sanctuary.
Masirah is a small island meaning everything is reachable within 20 minutes driving to unspoiled spots with only 12,000 inhabitants. The island is a fisherman’s island, which means if you love seafood it is by far the perfect place for you. They don’t only have seafood but lots of curry, it’s a very Arabian/Indian type of place. You will meet friendly, curious and helpful locals on your expedition through Masirah, you will arrive as a tourist to the island and leave as a friend to the locals, they will gladly take you on many trips to see many different sites, always with the biggest smile. For example some of the areas they will show you; the lagoon in Masirah is unbelievably flat and lots of space, kite surfers paradise for learning new tricks. They also have a gorgeous wave spot with 2-4 meter swell which both surfers and windsurfers absolutely love. Kite surfers who use a surfboard can progress their surfing skills very quickly in Masirah as the waves are clean and not too big. Most of the beaches the locals will show you have been untouched and are empty. We also provide snorkelling and it’s possible to do dolphin watching tours as in Masirah you will be able to see lots of different types of fish, so much fish that you will be overwhelmed by the animals living in the ocean. During October is the main season for whale sharks to arrive in Oman which means Masirah is a great place all year round even thought the main windy season lasts 4 months during the summer. In winter you can get 15-20 knots but not every day guaranteed wind unlike summer.
